Dr. Perl maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Berkeley, where he works psychodynamically with adults and adolescents in both brief and long-term psychotherapy. In addition to teaching and private practice, and Dr. Perl holds a staff psychologist position at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center providing crisis intake and inpatient assessment.

Dr. Perl serves on the Board of Directors of the California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC), and is a past-Chair. Dr. Perl has served on the Alameda County Psychological Association Board of Directors, and for eight years conducted child assessments as a school psychologist in Marin County.

As the Wright Institute's Internship Advisor, Dr. Perl draws upon his broad interests in standards and quality assurance in psychology education, clinical training competencies, and professional development. Through a series of workshops, meetings and one-on-one advisement, Dr. Perl works with Wright Institute students to plan their clinical training sequence, prepare them in the internship application process, and help them to develop career goals. Each year, Dr. Perl assists students in successfully navigating the internship application and selection process.

Dr. Perl is a graduate of the Wright Institute, and trained at the California Pacific Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, where he served as Chief Intern in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
