The Wright Institute is seeking applications for the positions of Part Time Faculty for its Masters in Counseling Psychology Program, to commence in Fall 2025. Applications will be accepted until July 18, 2025.
Background
Founded in 1968 by renowned psychologist Nevitt Sanford, a pioneer in integrating social issues with clinical psychology, the Wright Institute is built on his belief in lifelong learning and personal growth. Sanford's developmental approach shapes the foundation of the Institute's educational programs. The Clinical Program (Psy.D) was the first established, followed by the Counseling Psychology (MA) program in 2006.

Job Description
Part-Time Core Faculty at the Wright Institute play a vital role in supporting the Masters in Counseling Program by participating in faculty governance, shaping the institution's culture, and contributing to program development. They teach, advise, and mentor students, guiding their professional growth and fostering a collaborative academic environment. In addition to their teaching and advising roles, they serve on committees, collaborate on curriculum development, and serve as "lead faculty" on courses, mentoring adjunct faculty to ensure high instructional standards. Part-Time Faculty also contribute to the core curriculum and values of the institution, attend regular faculty meetings, contribute to the institution through participation in program areas, collaborate with administrative staff, and maintain a strong understanding of foundational concepts in counseling.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field from an accredited program, and licensed to practice in California or a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or related field from an accredited program, and licensed as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW to practice in California. Candidates must have experience teaching at the graduate level and expertise with course subjects, as well as a commitment to incorporating issues of social justice & equity into all aspects of their work. Experience in teaching the following courses is preferred but not limited to: Research Based Practice, Counseling & Therapeutic Factors, Individual and Family Development, Family Therapy, Sexual Development and Health and Addictions Counseling.
Part-time Core Faculty Compensation
Part-time Core Faculty are paid according to the work performed, including the number of units taught, advising responsibilities, admissions interviews, committee memberships, and special projects approved by the Director. Part-time Core Faculty receive two (2) units for Core Faculty meeting attendance and two units (2) for advising responsibilities outside of class office hours. Part-time Core Faculty are required to teach a minimum of nine (9) units. Creating a base salary of $35,100. Part-time Core Faculty may teach up to fifteen (15) units and may take on additional roles such as Lead Faculty positions and committee work for additional compensation. The compensation for the 2024-2025 academic year is $2,700 per unit.
