In Fall 2016, MA students, faculty, and staff will move into a handsome new building in Berkeley on Dwight Way and Ninth Street, two blocks west of San Pablo Avenue. The three-story, 15,000 square foot building is located in a lively and charming mixed business and residential neighborhood close to cafes, restaurants, and one-of-a-kind shops.
The two-year curriculum, leading to licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Clinical Counselor, emphasizes a strengths-based, culturally sensitive, recovery oriented model for promoting positive change in individuals, families, and the community. Our faculty are skilled mental health clinicians in the fields of marriage and family therapy, clinical and counseling psychology, and social work. Our student body is diverse in background, ethnicity, and life experience. Students range in age from 21-72 and many have years of experience in the mental health field or related professions.
A unique feature of our program is that students join a weekend, evening, or daytime cohort that commences, progresses, and graduates together. This cohort model offers an intimate, supportive, and transformative learning experience.
- Weekend students attend classes approximately one weekend per month and one evening per week.
- Evening students attend classes three nights per week from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
- Daytime students attend classes two days per week from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
