Dr. Klee is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice and a core faculty member in the Wright Institute Counseling Psychology program, where she teaches courses in individual and family development, clinical assessment, child and adolescent therapy, common therapeutic factors, and psychotherapy theories and techniques. She specializes in working with youth, parents, adults and families from a relational psychodynamic and systems-informed perspective, paying particular attention to the ways that early experiences and attachments, cultural identities, and collective and intergenerational histories shape development, mental health, and relationships. In her private practice, she works with a wide range of concerns, including depression and anxiety, attachment and relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, life stage transitions, parenting, perinatal and postpartum mood disorders, school difficulties, self-esteem, and cultural identity concerns. She also provides psychological assessments for children and adolescents utilizing a collaborative model, and has supervised trainees at the Wright Institute Clinics and the Access Institute in San Francisco.
Dr. Klee earned her Psy.D. at the Wright Institute and trained primarily in community mental health and school-based settings. She completed her doctoral internship at WestCoast Children’s Clinic in Oakland, where she provided trauma-focused therapy and psychological assessment services for foster youth and families. She continued her postdoctoral training at the Wright Institute Assessment Service, where she provided psychological assessments for diagnostic clarification and to support deeper understanding of cognitive, emotional, and executive functioning. Post-licensure, Dr. Klee has been particularly drawn to psychotherapy integration and to exploring what different therapeutic traditions can offer one another, and has pursued training across a range of modalities, including emotion-focused therapy for couples (EFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions).
Dr. Klee came to psychology by a somewhat unconventional route. Before training as a psychologist, she worked as a book editor and magazine writer, and completed her master’s degree in literary and cultural studies.
