Professor Biasetto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with fifteen years of clinical experience in both community-based care and private practice. She specializes in the treatment of severe trauma, particularly that which results from interpersonal violence in both intimate and community / sociopolitical contexts. While well-versed in a variety of therapeutic approaches for the treatment of trauma, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy and Narrative Exposure Therapy, she holds a psychodynamic lens in her clinical work, informed by feminist, queer, and psychoanalytic theory. As a clinical supervisor and educator, Professor Biasetto is passionate about the use of Deliberate Practice in clinical training.

Since graduating from UC Berkeley’s School of Social Welfare, she has worked at the UC San Francisco Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), which provides trauma-focused therapy and clinical case management to survivors of interpersonal violence. At the TRC, she holds a managerial and supervisory role while providing direct care to survivors of severe traumas.

In 2019, Professor Biasetto co-founded the UCSF Health and Human Rights Initiative (HHRI). As the HHRI Mental Health Director, she oversees the training of new generations of medical and mental health providers in the assessment and treatment of severe trauma and human rights violations among immigrant survivors. She also held the position of Clinical Advisor for the International Rescue Committee in Oakland, where she supervised and trained staff in trauma-informed care to refugees and other immigrant trauma survivors.

Prior to becoming a clinician, Professor Biasetto worked across Southwest Asia and North Africa, southern Europe, and East Africa in the design, implementation, and direct provision of psychosocial assistance to child and adult survivors of gender-based violence and persecution.

In her personal life, Professor Biasetto delights in live music, poetry, contemplating the ocean, and being with her family and beloved queer community.
