Dr. Kim is a licensed clinical psychologist and tenured Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Wright Institute. Her clinical and scholarly work focuses on child, adolescent, and family development, with specialization in evidenced-based treatment for anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, and minority mental health. She has extensive experience across diverse care settings, including schools, hospitals, community mental health systems, and private practice, with a sustained commitment to expanding access to high-quality care for underserved populations.

Her early training emphasized community-based interventions with at-risk youth in Los Angeles, culminating in doctoral research on stress, interpersonal processes, and treatment engagement among inner-city adolescents.

At the Wright Institute, Dr. Kim has led institute-wide initiatives in recruitment and retention of underrepresented students, development of training pipelines, legislative advocacy, and advancing culturally responsive clinical practice. She is widely recognized for her leadership in facilitating constructive conversations on complex issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and serves as a consultant to universities, healthcare systems, and Fortune 500 organizations.

Dr. Kim is the Principal Investigator of the Constructive Conversations Lab (ConConLab), which examines how individuals navigate high-stakes conversations across clinical, educational, organizational, and community contexts. The lab integrates psychological science, communication, and equity-focused practice to identify mechanisms of change and to develop evidence- and skill-based interventions that translate research into applied tools for training, leadership, and practice.

She is the Founder and Executive Director of Taking Flight, a mentorship-based psychology internship program supporting BIPOC and first-generation students pursuing advanced degrees. She is also Co-Founder and Chief Clinical Officer of AARI Care, where she leads the development of an AI-native platform designed to modernize clinical training, supervision, and mental health care delivery. In addition, she is Co-Founder of the Korean Psychology Exchange, a cross-cultural network for Korean professionals in mental health.

A Ronald McNair Scholar and American Psychological Association Minority Fellow, Dr. Kim is an award-winning clinician, educator, and author, with leadership roles spanning local, state, and national levels focused on immigration, advocacy, and equity and inclusion. Her publications include It’s Time to Talk (and Listen): How to have Constructive Conversations about Race, Class, Sexuality, Ability, and Gender in a Polarized World (2019), Clinical Psychology Internship for Underrepresented Students: An Inclusive Approach to Higher Education (2021), and Cultivating Equitable and Inclusive Conversations in Higher Education (2025).
