Daniel van Beek, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in supervision, training, multicultural competency and the treatment of substance use disorders. Dr. van Beek earned his doctoral degree from CSPP San Francisco and completed his doctoral internship at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek’s internship in Clinical Psychology. He then completed his post-doctoral residency with the Kaiser Permanente Elk Grove Psychiatry department in South Sacramento.
From 2018 to 2025, Dr. van Beek served as a group and individual supervisor at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek, where he also served as the Internship Training Director from 2021 to 2025. In addition, he was a member of the Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Committee from 2021 to 2025- providing resources, consultation, and support to clinic staff. As a clinical educator, Dr. van Beek conducted a series of didactics focused on the manifestation of microaggressions in clinical and professional environments.
Dr. van Beek specializes in working with diverse and marginalized populations, brief therapy, addiction medicine, group-based treatment interventions, supervision, and psychological training. In the fall of 2024, he joined the faculty of the Wright Institute, where he currently teaches courses on sociocultural issues, brief therapy, psychopharmacology, and substance use treatment.
