Dr. Nancy Bohl-Penrod is a nationally recognized expert in first responder mental health with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s in Counseling and Education. She is the Founder of NKB & Associates, The Counseling Team International, and a Co-Founder of the Public Safety Peer Support Association (PSPSA). With over 35 years of experience, she has trained more than 20,000 first responders in peer support, critical incident stress management and behavioral health and wellness subjects and has responded to more than 1,000 critical incidents nationwide. She is a certified trainer for QPR, ICISF, POST, STC, and others, and has been an instructor for many agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Federal Air Marshall Service, and the United Nations Security Police.
Dr. Bohl-Penrod is also a published author with over 40 articles, book chapters, and professional papers on trauma, officer wellness, and crisis intervention—many featured by the FBI, DOJ, and major law enforcement associations. Her work has earned her numerous honors, including the Director of the FBI’s Certificate of Appreciation and ICISF’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
